Prep Basketball: Milbank, Sisseton split boys, girls doubleheader

SISSETON — Milbank and Sisseton split a high school basketball doubleheader on Thursday.

Sisseton won the girls game 62-28 and Milbank took the boys game 55-45.

Emmalee Nielsen notched 12 points, Chloe and Krista Langager each 10, Ruby Rice 9 and Hannah Leverson and Jourdes Chanku each eight for Sisseton's girls. Chloe Langager also grabbed 12 rebounds.

Maurina Street paced Milbank with 11 points and five rebounds. Claire Snaza added eight points.

In the boys game, Garrett Mertens poured in 19 points to lead Milbank. Jaxson Wildung chipped in with 11, Justus Osborn 10 and Joe Schulte nine. Schulte also had 11 rebounds and four steals.

Nate Tchida's 16 points and six rebounds sparked Sisseton. Mason Herzog added 11 points.

Other Boys Basketball

Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran 45, Great Plains Lutheran 39: A second-half comeback by the Panthers came up short in the Martin Luther College Tip-Off Classic in New Ulm, Minn. Alex Heil led GPL with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Micah Holien added seven points, Myles York six points and six rebounds, Austin Rubendall seven rebounds and Brody Scharlemann five steals.

Isaac Beiermann scored 15 points and Luke Otte 10 for NEL.

Wessington Springs 66, Faulkton Area 49: Wessington Springs won the non-conference game 66-49. No other details were reported.

Other Girls Basketball

Clark-Willow Lake 56, Waubay-Summit 33: The Cyclones won the non-conference game by getting 20 points and seven rebounds from Alicia Vig, 14 points and six assists from Musonda Kabwe, eight points from Kayla Jordan and seven points, six rebounds and six steals from Tehya Vig. Faith Larson tallied 15 points and Eva Benike 13 for Waubay-Summit.

Aberdeen Roncalli 38, Redfield 36: Roncalli held on for the Northeast Conference win by getting 11 points from Ava Hanson and 10 from Claire Crawford. Redfield trailed by five late in the game before hitting a 3-pointer and missed a shot to tie in the closing seconds.

Elkton-Lake Benton 41, Estelline-Hendricks 32: Kylie Ramlo scored 15 points and Teavan Erickson and Aubrey Schindler eight apiece to lead the Elks to the Dakota Valley Conference win. Kenzy Beare produced 14 points, four rebounds and three steals for Estelline-Henricks. Brooke Johnson added eight points and Sadie Johnson seven.

Wessington Springs 52, Faulkton Area 36: Avery Orth's 22 points and nine rebounds carried Wessington Springs, which also got 14 points and 10 steals from Carissa Scheel and 15 points and six rebounds from Kristie Munsen. Addison Melius had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Kelli Stoecker 12 and eight for Faulkton Area.

Oldham-Ramona-Rutland 43, Iroquois-Lake Preston 41: ORR held on for the Dakota Valley Conference victory over ILP. No other details were reported.

Herreid-Selby Area 48, Aberdeen Christian 18: The Wolverines rolled to the victory over the Knights. Jada Rossow tallied 10 points, Mya Ebel nine and Jennica Berens eight. Rossow also grabbed seven rebounds and Ebel six. Chloe Bosma's nine points topped Aberdeen Christian.

Tri-State 70, Waverly-South Shore 27: Tri-State cruised to the Eastern Coteau Conference win. No other details were reported.

Tracy-Milroy Balaton 56, Canby 42 (Minn.): Brynn Kockelman tallied 13 points and seven rebounds and Kortney Leppke 11and 12 in the loss for Canby. Paige Nelson contributed eight points. Braelyn Merritt also snared seven rebounds.

Lac qui Parle Valley 68, Dawson-Boyd 27 (Minn.): The Eagles improved to 4-0 by getting 23 points and seven rebounds from Camryn Lee; 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and seven steals from Taylor Shelstad; 12 points from Rylee Lund; 11 points from Isabel Gerdes; and eight points and 10 rebounds from Jayln Lee. Allison Estling and Ayiana Hastad each scored six points for Dawson-Boyd.
