Prep basketball roundup: LaFayette boys wrap up perfect regular season

Feb. 12—The LaFayette boys' basketball team used a strong third quarter and another monster game from senior Aidan Hadaway to down Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 77-51 Friday night in front of a standing-room-only home crowd, completing an undefeated regular season and wrapping up the No. 1 seed for the GHSA Region 6-AAA tournament.

The Ramblers (22-0, 16-0) led by eight at halftime before outscoring the Warriors 24-12 in the third quarter as Junior Barber had nine of his 16 points and Jordan Kennerly eight of his 10 in the period. It was Hadaway, though, who dominated throughout, finishing with 27 points, 23 rebounds and five assists.

"I was extremely proud of how hard my guys played from start to finish," LaFayette coach Hank Peppers said. "It was a packed gym and a playoff atmosphere, so I was very pleased with how we kept our composure and focused on the next play."

For the Warriors (20-2, 14-2), whose only losses have been to LaFayette, Jamichael Davis had 22 — 16 coming in the first half — and Brent Bowman 17.

LaFayette earned the right to host the region tournament next week, where the Ramblers and Warriors will receive byes into the semifinals. LFO and Murray County will be the top two seeds on the girls' side.

Calhoun 74, Blessed Trinity 56: The Yellow Jackets (18-5) won their regular-season finale to tie Hiram for first place but lost a coin flip and will be the No. 2 seed in next week's Region 7-AAAAA tournament. Dylan Faulkner had 19 points to lead Calhoun, with Peyton Law and Blaze Hammett adding 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Fulton Leadership Academy 52, Trion 46: At the Region 6-A tournament at Armuchee, the season came to an end for the Bulldogs (9-18) as Fulton's Rayshan Ford had a game-high 22 points. Greyson Patty led Trion with 17 points, followed by Brandon Dover with 13 and Jase Mason with 10.

GIRLS

Ooltewah senior Jordan McCullough reached a milestone Thursday night as she scored her 1,000th career point in a win over Central. She has helped the Lady Owls go from zero wins last year to 14 this season.

LFO 67, LaFayette 26: The Lady Warriors (24-1, 16-0) completed a perfect region run as Christina Collins had 21 points, Christen Collins 19 and Angel Simmons 15.

Sonoraville 47, Ringgold 40: The Lady Tigers (18-7, 11-5) lost their regular-season finale despite getting 15 points, four steals and four assists from Rachel Lopez pls 14 points and eight rebounds from Baileigh Pitts. Ringgold will be the No. 3 seed in next week's 6-AAA tournament, with Sonoraville (12-12, 9-7) the No. 4 seed.
