Prep boys basketball roundup: CMCS hang on to edge Panthers

Jan. 29—TRACY — In a battle between two of the top boys basketball teams in their respective divisions in the Camden Conference, Central Minnesota Christian managed to hang tough.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton had a last-second shot hit the rim twice but refused to fall through, allowing the Bluejays to leave with a 55-52 victory Friday at Tracy Area High School.

CMCS is now 8-1 in the Camden and 13-3 overall. The Bluejays lead the Camden North. T-M-B is second in the Camden South at 7-2 and is 11-5 overall.

Ben Van Eps was the Bluejays' top scorer with 20 points. Case Mulder added 16 points, and Caleb Vander Beek had a strong night in the post with nine points and seven rebounds.

Tony Nelson had a game-high 29 points for the Panthers.

CMCS will host South-leading Russell-Tyler-Ruthton for a 7:15 p.m. game Monday.
