PREP, COLLEGE ROUNDUP

Feb. 19—RALEIGH — State senators introduced a bill Thursday that would allow more spectators to attend outdoor high school sports.

The current limit is 100 people, but Senate Bill 116 seeks to allow 40% of a facility's approved capacity or, if it has no approved capacity, no more than seven people for every 1,000 square feet.

Senators Todd Johnson (R-Union), Vickie Sawyer (R-Iredell) and Danny Britt (R-Robeson) introduced the bill.

Twenty-three state legislators also sent a letter to Gov. Roy Cooper asking him to amend Executive Order 181 to allow outdoor facilities to operate under a percentage capacity restriction.
