Prep girls basketball: Tigers aim to be hardest workers on the floor

Nov. 23—Head coach: Paul Eberhardt

Assistant coaches: Kraig Anderson, Gabby Gidley.

Returning players: Tieryn Plasch, Gabby Risley, Shayna Wick, Annalee Sutherland, Madison Bobula, Alison Raboin, Abby Johnson, Riley Eberhardt, Ava Anderson, Tori Kaufman.

New faces to watch: Ellie Peterson, Ashlyn Sutherland, Anja Hellekant, Shelby Driscoll.

What are the team's strengths?

Coach Paul Eberhardt pointed to a few strengths the Tigers have in their corner, including depth, leadership from veterans on the team, work ethic and cohesion.

What will be the team's biggest challenge this season?

The Tigers lack physical size, Eberhardt said, which impacts rebounding. Beyond that, their biggest obstacles are their competition.

"St. Croix Falls is a returning state qualifier and brings back four of five starters," Eberhardt said. "Ladysmith returns three starters that are all very solid. (It's a) tough nonconference schedule."

"I love our team. We have the ability to work very hard and very consistent with our effort," Eberhardt said. "We have 14 girls on varsity that all have the ability to step in and play if needed. We lack physical size and so if we face a bigger post presence we will have some match-up issues and have to get creative on how we defend and try to eliminate that post presence. We should be very competitive as a whole."
