PREP HOOPS: Ashland heats up to edge Phoenix

Jan. 5—ASHLAND — Laine Carter and Koura Sayre each connected on three 3-pointers as Ashland enjoyed its best shooting night of the season with 10 3-pointers overall in a 45-39 girls basketball win over Phoenix on Wednesday night.

Carter finished with 13 points and Sayre had 11, while Abbey Lambert contributed nine points, four assists and three steals for the Grizzlies (2-6). Loane Adaine grabbed 11 rebounds and Flannery Lundgren pulled in eight.

"It was by far our best offensive game," said Ashland head coach Antione Perry, "but we also played some really good defense changing between zone and man."

Anabell Delgado had 15 points, Morgan James added 12 and Ruby Rector finished with 10 to lead Phoenix (7-5).

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 58, ROGUE RIVER 16: At Rogue River, Timnah Roberson accounted for 21 points, four steals and four assists as Cascade Christian rolled to the Far West League victory.

Jordynn Jones added 10 points, three steals and two assists, Alyse Lane had nine points and Erin Law pulled in a team-high nine rebounds to pace the Challengers (5-5, 1-0 FWL).

Roberson knocked down five of her team's six 3-pointers.

Amanda LeDoux led Rogue River (1-8, 0-1) with eight points.

CASCADE CHRISTIAN 108, ROGUE RIVER 23: At Rogue River, Cascade Christian sophomore Drew Hall scored 30 points and junior Austin Maurer added 22 in the Far West League romp.

The Challengers, coming off a big win over Class 5A Summit, built a 31-8 cushion through one quarter and led 60-17 by halftime.

Eli Bryant scored 16 points and Jaren Fronckowiak added 15 for Cascade Christian (7-2, 1-0 FWL).

Perrin Nelson scored seven points for Rogue River (2-6, 0-1).
