STATE WRESTLING

27 area wrestlers win first match

KISSIMMEE — Four girls and 23 boys won their first match at the FHSAA Wrestling State Championships on Thursday at Silver Spurs Arena.

On the boys’ side, seven wrestlers from Charlotte High, four from Lemon Bay High and three each from North Port High and Palmetto High still have a chance for a state title.

The Championship Round 2 and the semifinals will be held Friday with the finals contested at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

Here are the area wrestlers who advanced to the second round:

GIRLS
