Prep Roundup: Addison volleyball sweeps East Jackson

ADDISON — The Addison volleyball team is enjoying a breakout season and kept it up Tuesday with a Cascades Conference sweep of East Jackson.

The Panthers (23-10-3) jumped out to a big lead in Set 1, but relinquished the lead only to hang on for the 25-21 victory.

Set 2 was tighter throughout, but after a timeout trailing 11-10 Addison outscored the Trojans 15-8 the rest of the way to win 25-19.

Set 3, East Jackson controlled most the of the way as Addison trailed 18-12 before rallying to win 25-21.

Madison 3, Whiteford 1

OTTAWA LAKE — The Trojans dropped Set 1 to the Bobcats, but won the next three to claim a seventh-straight Tri-County Conference championship.

Madison (27-8-2, 10-0 TCC) lost 18-25 to open the match, but took the next three, 25-8, 25-14, 25-21.

The Trojans haven't lost a TCC title since Clinton won in 2015.

Heather Lanning, Madison: Ours girls came out and gave up a few too many too early, but what I am most proud of was we didn’t let that bring us down or stop our energy. We came out on top in with the next three. We played hard, scrappy, defensive volleyball tonight.

BRITTON — The Bulldogs picked up a TCC victory after dropping Set 1 and battling back to claim the next three.

The Patriots won Set 1, 23-25, before Morenci evened the match 25-21.

The Bulldogs took control of the match, winning a marathon in Set 3, 33-31, before finishing the match in four, 25-22.

TECUMSEH — Tecumseh created some distance between itself and the rest of the Southeastern Conference White Division as it swept the Bulldogs to improve to 33-7 overall and 4-0 in the league.

Tecumseh dominated the match, sweeping 25-16, 25-10, 25-13.

Morgan Skeleton, Tecumseh: I’m super proud of how we played tonight. Our energy was very high to give us the momentum at the beginning of Set 1. I’m happy my returning players got a chance to redeem themselves after falling short to Chelsea in five sets last season during districts. Still a lot of work to be done, but tonight was promising and I’m glad we got another home victory.

Adrian 3, Pinckney 1

PINCKNEY — The Maples battled through three sets with the Pirates in SEC White play and dominated the fourth set to clinch the win.

Adrian (25-10-3, 3-1 SEC White) and Pinckney split the first two sets with the Maples taking Set 1, 25-19, 23-25. Adrian took command of the match with a 25-21 win in Set 3 and clinched it 25-8 in Set 4.

Adrian remains a game back of Tecumseh and is alone in second in the SEC White.

CLINTON — The Redwolves kept their hot streak going as they picked up a Lenawee County Athletic Association sweep against Hillsdale.

Clinton won by a pair of 25-18 decisions in Set 1 and Set 2 before closing out the match with a 25-20 victory in Set 3.

The Redwolves have won nine-straight matches.

Hudson won three, tightly contested sets, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.

Keely Hinzman and Lauren Hill were dominate on the court, leading the Tigers to the victory.

Madison Invite

MADISON TWP. — The Onsted girls picked up another win, as did sophomore Emmry Ross, while the Madison boys took second at its home invite.

The Wildcats' girls posted a team score of 15 while Erie Mason took second (61). Ross won the meet, followed by Kara Terakedis.

On the boys side, the host Trojans posted a team score of 60 as they followed Erie Mason (36). Onsted took third (78) followed by Morenci (79).

YPSILANTI — The Tecumseh girls swimming and diving team picked up a pair of wins against Erie Mason-Ida and Lincoln.

Tecumseh defeated Erie Mason-Ida, 102-70, while also beating the Railsplitters, 91-71.

Tecumseh took first overall in seven of the 12 events.
