May 24—TRAVERSE CITY — Runs were scarce in a doubleheader between Lake Michigan Conference foes Traverse City St. Francis and Kalkaska.

The two softball rivals split the twinbill, with St. Francis (24-2-1) squeaking out a 1-0 win as Allee Shepherd threw a three-hitter and struck out three.

Sophie Hardy drove in the game's only run, singling in Shepherd in the fifth inning. Hardy had a 2-for-2 game, accounting for two of only seven hits between the teams.

Kalkaska came back to take the nightcap 3-1 behind Mia Miller's six-hitter, allowing no earned runs and fanning three. Miller fanned 11 in 12 innings between both games.

Lauren Judd, Lorelei Simkins and Jaycee Mitchell each drove in a run for the Blazers (21-10).

Hardy added two more hits, the only player for either team with more than two hits on the day. Hunter St. Peter and Zoey Jetter added two hits each as neither team allowed an extra-base hit.
