Div. II Akron Sectional

Triway 28, Mentor Lake Catholic 0

Opening up their tournament, Triway got the bats rolling against Mentor Lake Catholic in this Akron Sectional fueled by their celebrated senior class.

For the seven Titan seniors it proved to be a final night a to remember on their homefield as Hailey Massaro led the way as she hit for the cycle. She tripled home a pair and lined an RBI double in the first, blasted a three-run homer in the second, completed they cycle with an RBI single in the fourth and finished 4-of-5 at the plate with seven RBIs.

"Playing on my homefield with my best friends one last time was heartbreaking, but at the same time bitter sweet," said Massaro. "Hitting for the cycle on my last time playing on my homefield, I've never accomplished that goal before which was really cool."

She wasn't the only senior to have a night as every Triway hitter collected a hit on the night. Emma Hudson tripled, finished with four hits and scored four times, Haylee Pruitt ripped three hits and had two RBIs, Katie Hoffa had two hits and four RBIs, Emily Yacapraro added a hit, two RBIs and scored three times, Clowie Flinner chipped in two hits and Madison Fatzinger had an RBI single.

But Triway's non-seniors did plenty of damage too. There was Emma Flinner flashing the bat with an RBI triple and a two-run shot in the first, and a solo homer in the third. She finished with four hits and five RBIs and standout Carter Wachtel doubled twice, had three hits and three RBIs. Inside the circle, Wachtel was dynamite yet again, this time fanning 14 in tossing yet another no-hitter for the Titans.

"That field will forever have a place in my heart," said Massaro. "My teammates and I have spend countless hours, sweat, tears. laughter and we have constantly grinded to be better ball players on that field. The last memory of us seven seniors walking the bases one more time while the crowd cheered us on, was an incredible feeling."
