Prep Roundup: Hillgrove upends Marietta for region title
Oct. 14—Hillgrove defeated Marietta in four sets Tuesday to claim the Region 3AAAAAAA volleyball title and the region's top seed for the Class AAAAAAA state playoffs.
The Lady Hawks won the match 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-16.
Nephthys Re led the way with nine kills, 11 assists and 10 digs. Candence Spilotros had 11 digs, six kills and three aces, while Gabriela Fullwood finished with eight kills. Kaitlyn Hite had 18 assists and nine digs, and Kellan Flynn added 16 digs.

Sprayberry 2, Alpharetta 1: The Lady Yellow Jackets secured their second state playoff appearance in the last four years on Madison Moody's walk-off single with one out in the seventh.
Macey Bowen had two hits to support Graci Pederson's complete-game four-hitter.
The Lady Yellow Jackets will open super regional play at Apalachee on Tuesday.
