Prep Roundup: Klahowya girls soccer grabs district championship; wins for Kitsap football

Klahowya's girls soccer team secured one title Thursday. Now the Eagles can prepare to take their shot at a bigger prize: the Class 1A state championship.

Amira Lyons scored twice and Ali Divano, Tori Peters, Kelsey Clark and Bailey Watland each added goals as Klahowya knocked off Bellevue Christian 6-1 in Lincoln Bowl in Tacoma to claim the West Central District 1A title.

Placing third in state last year, Klahowya (15-1) will learn its seed for the state tournament on Sunday.

North Kitsap (13-3-0) fell 2-0 against Enumclaw in the semifinals of the Class 2A West Central/Sea-King Bi-District tournament. The Vikings, who have already secured a state tournament berth, face White River for third place on Saturday at noon at Franklin Pierce High School.

Olympic (7-11-0) faces Sammamish in a loser-out district game Friday night at North Mason High School at 5 p.m.

Central Kitsap, South Kitsap win final football games

The football programs at Central Kitsap and South Kitsap had reason to celebrate Thursday as both the Cougars (2-8) and Wolves (2-8) finished off the 2022 season with victories during a doubleheader at Kitsap Bank Stadium in Port Orchard.

Central Kitsap erupted for four second-half touchdowns in a 27-7 victory over Rogers of Puyallup. Accounting for the Cougars' four rushing scores were Riley Kolda, Micah Stringfield, Timo Sousou and Andy Lin. The Cougars won their final two games after opening the season with eight consecutive losses.

South Kitsap, which beat Rogers in Week 2 during South Puget Sound League 4A play, topped Kentwood 41-6. Braden Skovald and Boden Harvey scored touchdowns in the fourth quarter to trigger a running clock for the Wolves. Kentwood scored on the final play of the game to avoid the shutout.
