Prep Roundup: Lady Tribe wins second district title; Lady Pioneers, Bulldogs, ‘Landers and Falcons finish on top

(WJHL) – It was the crowning day for all four TSSAA classifications in District 1 girls basketball, as well as a local squad in District 2, on Monday evening.

In Blountville, Dobyns-Bennett jumped out to an early 11-3 advantage and held on to beat Daniel Boone, 47-40. With the victory, the Lady Tribe claims just its second district title, and first since 2016.

D-B will play host to Jefferson County in Friday’s region quarterfinals, while Daniel Boone will be at home against Morristown West.

In District 1-3A, David Crockett rounded into form and grabbed a convincing 61-38 win over Elizabethton to take home the trophy.

The Lady Pioneers will matchup with Claiborne in the region quarterfinals, while Elizabethton draws Grainger.

A back-and-forth affair in District 1-2A went the way of Hampton, as the Bulldogs pulled away from South Greene late, 57-47.

The Lady Bulldogs will see Austin East in the region quarterfinals, while South Greene hosts Oneida – both games scheduled for Friday night.

In District 1-1A, Cloudland lands a big win over North Greene in the championship, 52-26.

The Lady Highlanders receive a first-round bye, as North Greene prepares for Hancock County in the region quarterfinals.
