PREP ROUNDUP: North Bay Haven girls take 11th at state cross country race

The North Bay Haven girls and boys cross country teams traveled to Tallahassee for the 2A State Championships at Apalachee Regional Park on Friday and the girls came away with an 11th place overall finish.

Bolles took first with an average time of 19:02, with the Buccaneer girls coming in with an average time of 20:46 led by top individual finisher Charleen Elizondo, who came in at 19:38.6 to place 24th out of 217 runners.

North Bay Haven eighth grader Kyla Faint finished 36th with a time of 20:00.7, followed by Lakyn Carmichael in 68th at 20:47.3, Katherine Lundgren in 111th at 21:33.2, Mallory Franklin in 124th at 21:46.7, Jordyn Dodd at 169th at 22:41.3, and Madlynn Nichols in 209th at 24:49.2.

On the boys side, the Buccaneers took 30th in the team standings with an average time of 18:45, with Bolles again taking first with an average time of 16:12.

Matthew Matson was the highest-finishing individual runner for North Bay Haven, taking 30th with a time of 17:16.4, followed by Nathan Holmes in 95th at 17:58.9, Michael Faint in 148th at 18:44.2, John Wade in 202nd at 19:34.3, Jacob Taylor in 218th at 20:10.9, Daniel Kling in 221st at 20:25.5, and Carson Smith in 231st at 22:43.4.

Arnold 8, Milton 0

MILTON — The Marlins moved to 2-0 with the win, with freshman Dresden Conrad leading the way with three goals and an assist.

Zoe Looker and Emily Djagbare each had a goal and two assists, while Lena Dykes, Marissa Sparks, Karen Jones all had a goal and an assist. Allie Dalton got the shutout in net.

Arnold is next scheduled to play host to Rocky Bayou Christian on Tuesday.
