GIRLS BASKETBALL

Smithville 62, Rittman 13

Smithville jumped out to a 46-11 halftime lead and only allowed two second-half points in a WCAL rout, snapping a two-game losing skid against tough competition.

The Smithies had a balanced night, with four players hitting double-digit scoring. Naomi Keib, Aly Wickens and Kailynn Wickens each scored 12 points and Madi Singer added 10. Keib also had eight rebounds and Singer dished out eight assists.

Northwest 55, Triway 35

League-leading Northwest pulled away from Triway in the second half, ending the Titans' upset bid. The Indians remained tied with CVCA in the loss column atop the league.

Caitln Titler led the way for Triway, scoring 15 points and Aaliyah Wirth added 11 in the loss.

WRESTLING

Rittman 51, Manchester 18; Rittman 70, Brooklyn 12

Rittman improved to 10-1 this season with dominant wins over Manchester and Brooklyn.

Garrett Gartin, Tyler Leatherman, Hunter Shreve, Isabelle Shreve, Justin Metheney, Rico Busic and Tyler Thompson all went 2-0 in the two duals and Jakob Gibson also went undefeated in one match.

GYMNASTICS

Triway 130.75, Massillon 125.9

Triway ran its record to 6-0 with a win over Massillon.

Aurora Metz and Rileigh Hostetler led the way, with Metz finishing first in the all-around (32.55) and Hostetler second (32.4). Metz placed tied-for-first on the bars and floor, tying with teammate Kaelee Garst in both routines.

Alyse Stutz also had a top performance on the beam, finishing first with an 8.4.

BOWLING

Wooster 2,576, Wadsworth 2,451 (boys)

Wooster 2,202, Wadsworth 1,682 (girls)

The Generals picked up a pair of wins over Wadsworth with several bowlers performing at high levels.

On the boys side, Justin Parks led the way with games of 228 and 210, Sam Fleming had the top game of the match with a 236, Dawson Gaynor added games of 225 and 195 and Seth Opatz went 214-202.

Abbie Leiendecker led all bowlers with a high game of 257, adding that to a 183 to lead the Generals to a win. Kayla Ling rolled games of 184 and 155 and Rebecca Stinchcomb was consistent with games of 163 and 169.
