Prep Roundup: SoWal girls continue to shine while Nelson's Eagles score huge road win

Another game, another blowout. Yep, that's life for Kevin Craig's Seahawks these days.

With Ava Beckett's 17 points leading four players in double figures, unbeaten South Walton (4-0) cruised to an 84-16 win over Bozeman Thursday night at The Hawks Nest.

Nola Pleat added 12 points, Kaelyn Shelton chipped in 11 points, Emma Hawks contributed 10 points and Tori Catanach had nine points and a team-best six boards.

Outscoring foes 66-37 nightly, the Seahawks begin a tough five-game road with 6-1 Rutherford Friday night.

Choctaw 58, Mosley 44

Rebounding from a lopsided loss to Navarre, Marissa Brown had 21 points and 17 rebounds and Anissia Luton contributed 14 points, six rebounds and four assists to lift Choctaw over the Dolphins (1-3).

Don Brown's 3-2 crew next travels to Booker T. Washington on Tuesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Freeport 82, WeWa 27

Sam Raines dropped a team-best 13 points, Noah O'Hara added 12 points and Elijah Joseph scored 10 to lead the 2-0 Bulldogs to the rout at home over Wewahitchka.

The Bulldogs next host Ponce de Leon on Friday night.

Niceville 9, South Walton 1

It's been a good week for Wes Nelson's crew.

Fresh off a 4-3 win over Gulf Breeze, the Eagles (4-1-1) scored a 9-1 road win on the shoulders of Grant Wheeler's hat trick and seven players finding the back of the net.

Carsen Krider, Michael O'Leary, Tyler Powell, Adrian Pearson, Ayden Morales and Khai Fretenborough each scored to accent Wheeler. Piling up the assists were O'Leary with two and Wheeler, Krider, Morales, Powell, Frank Lupella, Ethan Rowland and Dylan Redd each adding one.

The Eagles travel to Book T. Washington next on Tuesday.
