PREP WRESTLING

Madison rules TCC

ERIE – Madison won its third straight Tri-County Conference championship by ruling Wednesday’s league meet.

The Trojans won 10 of the 14 weight classes.

“We turned some losses around and that makes me very happy,” Madison coach Scott Hall said. “The guys wrestled loose and had a good time.”

Trojans to claim TCC titles were Malaki Mosher (106), Lucas Dopp (113), Lukas Leonard (132), Braxton Gates (138), Jalonn Borders (150), Angel Cabrera (157), Nathanael Decker (165), Xavier Rodriguez (175), Seth Mutter (190) and Logan Russell (285).

Madison has won the TCC title every year since the league made wrestling an official league sport.

Madison is moving to the Lenawee County Athletic Association next year leaving the TCC with just three schools that have wrestling teams – Morenci, Sand Creek and Erie Mason.

Madison will battle state powers Clinton, Hudson and Dundee in the LCAA.

“It gets really tough next year, but we are looking forward to competing with those teams,” Hall said.

Sand Creek’s Wyatt Fox won at 120 and Dylan Francoeur won at 144 Wednesday.

Coach Thoughts

Marv Cox, Addison: “Another good win for us on the road. Proud of the team, shorthanded due to injuries and we got into foul trouble. We stuck together even though we didn’t play our best game.”
