PREP ROUNDUP: Venice High boys doubles team loses overall title

The Venice High boys No. 1 doubles team of Charlie Siddons and Seth Neitlich fell in the overall final of the FHSAA doubles tennis tournament Friday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs. Siddons and Nietlich dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Harrison Michalowski and Kartik Mandia of Lake Nona

Siddons and Neitlich won the individual final in dramatic fashion Thursday afternoon at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs. Siddons and Neitlich came back from a set down to defeat the No. 1 seeded team of Carson Cerejo and Brian Lee of Wellington 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Earlier Wednesday, Siddons and Neitlich took care of Michael Rodriguez and Landon Williams of Bartram Trail in the semifinals.

In the opening two rounds, Siddons and Neitlich defeated Zachary Cohen and Joseph Freid of Winter Park 6-2, 6-1 in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, Siddons and Neitlich dispatched of Felipe Ramos and Henry Stoller of Coral Gables 6-2, 6-3.

Venice's Nicole Cierniak and Mikalya Faure split a pair of matches in the Class 4A Doubles tournament Thursday.

Cierniak and Faure defeated Spanish River High’s Delanie Tribby and Maya Shanok 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 in the quarterfinal round.

In the semifinals, Cierniak and Faure lost to Vero Beach High’s Grace Levelston and Manuela Van Cotthem 6-3, 6-2.

The Venice High girls tennis team lost in the first round to Spanish River, 4-2, in the Class 4A team tennis championships.

Individually, Odessa Eisch of Parrish Community won her first match before dropping her second match in the FHSAA Class 2A girls singles state tournament.

Eisch defeated Taylor Rogers of Santa Fe 6-1, 6-0 in the first round. In the quarterfinal round, Eisch lost 6-0, 6-0 to top-seed Juhnyee See of Coral Springs Charter.

On the boys’ side, Manatee High’s Troy Dozeman lost in the round of 16 to Mason Cisco of Vero Beach High 6-0, 6-4.
