Prep Volleyball Roundup: BOLD makes it six in a row

Sep. 22—BENSON — Leading into one of its biggest matches of the fall, the BOLD volleyball team kept its momentum rolling.

The Warriors won their sixth straight match with a three-set victory against Benson on Tuesday.

BOLD improved to 5-0 in the West Central Conference with the 25-18, 25-18, 25-15 win.

The Warriors' attack was led by outside hitter Leslie Snow. The 5-foot-8 senior had a match-high 18 kills along with seven digs and an ace serve. Layla Pfarr and Nellie Boerer tied for the team lead with three ace serves. Pfarr also had 13 set assists and seven digs. Lidia Plass had a BOLD-best 13 digs, and Delaney Tersteeg finished with 18 set assists.

Benson finished the night with six ace serves, with Libby McGeary and Lilly Slaughter accounting for two each. Slaughter also had a team-high four kills to go with nine digs. Adysen Himley controlled the Braves' offense with eight set assists, and Ellie Krusemark led the defense with 13 digs. McGeary and Himley each had 10 scoops.

BOLD (12-2) is host to Sauk Centre on Thursday. Sauk Centre is ranked 10th in the state in Class AA. Benson (3-11) will look to end a five-match losing streak Thursday when Melrose comes to town.

Willmar remained the only unbeaten team in the Central Lakes Conference with the victory over Fergus Falls at Willmar.

The Cardinals are now 6-0 in the Central Lakes Conference and 9-3 overall. They are ranked third in the state in Class AAA behind Marshall and Stewartville.

Lydia Larson had 29 set assists and three ace serves for Willmar. Sydney Schnichels had 13 kills and Mackenzie Knofczynski added 12 for the Cards.

Willmar plays host to St. Cloud Apollo at 7 p.m. Thursday.
