Prep Wrestling: Clinton, Hudson wage great battle for second

DUNDEE – Clinton and Hudson had a great battle for second place in the Lenawee County Athletic Association Wrestling Championship Meet Friday.

Clinton, the No. 2 team in Division 3, scored 182.5 to nip Hudson, ranked No. 1 in Division 4, by 2.5 points.

Dundee, No. 1 in Division 3, won 9 of the 14 weight classes and took the title.

Blissfield was fourth with 81, followed by Hillsdale with 37, Onsted with 30, Brooklyn Columbia Central with 27 and Ida with 24.

Wyatt Hicks (215) and Hamza Rafferty (285) won championships for Clinton, which got seconds from Brayton Long (113), Connor Busz (120), Connor Younts (126), Maurice Ames (138), Ethan Younts (150), Bryce Randolph (157), thirds from Zak Shadley (132), Clifford Jones (144) and Landon Lakatos (190) and a fourth from Nate Arntz (106).

Hudson had a trio of champions – Nicholas Sorrow (106), Calix Campbell (165) and Logan Sallows (190).

Tiger runner-ups were Cole Marry (132), Coy Perry (144), Logan Ryan (175) and Tucker Miller (126), Austin Marry (138), Jacob Pickford (150), Aden Barrett (157) and Kenny Sledge (215) placed third.

Collin Eggleston (215) and Matthew Houtteker (185) took second for Blissfield with Jude Rosas (106) and Sean Samuels (120) third and Conner Dealton (126) , Gerardo Martinez (144) and Moah Marks (190) fourth.

Dylan England (165) was second and James Overton (120) fourth for Onsted.

Addison places fifth

Manchester won the Cascades Conference championship Friday and Addison finished fifth.

Cameron Miller (285) finished second for the Panthers while Matt Simmons (126), Keelan Mullin (138) and Joe Clark (144) were third.
