Eclipse season is once again upon us, bringing big changes to our inner and outer lives. The first two eclipses of 2022 are taking place in the signs of Taurus and Scorpio on April 30 and May 16, respectively. Wait, what are eclipses, exactly?
Eclipses occur when the Sun and Moon align with the Lunar Nodes (also called ~the Nodes of Destiny~). The Nodes are the two points in the sky where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic (aka the Sun's apparent path through the sky, from our POV here on Earth). The Nodes move through the zodiac, always in opposing signs, and they take up to 18 months to move through each sign. After a long journey through Gemini and Sagittarius, the Nodes moved into Taurus and Scorpio earlier this year.
BTW: A lunar eclipse occurs when the Full Moon is near one of the Nodes, and a solar eclipse occurs when a New Moon is near one of the Nodes.
So, let's talk about the Nodes
In astrology, the North Node represents a goal that requires us to reach outside of ourselves to become something greater, while the South Node represents our "comfort zone" and can be associated with stagnancy. Some astrologers believe that these points in our birth chart can point to past lives and ancestral history.
The key to working with the Nodes is to find the balance between the North and South Node. The South Node teaches us that the comfort zone we inhabit isn’t always conducive to positive personal growth and advancement, while the North Node's lesson is that you don’t need to turn your back on everything you’ve ever known to get where you want to be.

The spring 2022 eclipses are in the signs of Taurus and Scorpio—two opposing signs. The lunar eclipse in Scorpio on May 16 is likely to present a deterrent that you’ve been holding onto for too long—in fact, it could even be blocking the things you manifested on April 30. This eclipse can produce some larger-than-life feelings, so be gentle with yourself and others.
Who will be affected the most?
These two eclipses in spring 2022 are likely to affect the four fixed signs the most: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. As you might guess, Taurus and Scorpio placements will feel these eclipses the most, but Leo and Aquarius placements could find challenges as well.
