Preschool screening taking place throughout Livingston County

Kim Cox, preschool screening coordinator for Livingston County Special Services has announced the dates for public screenings this spring in various Livingston County locations.

Preschool screenings are free and open to children 5 years and younger. These screenings are sponsored by Livingston County Special Services Unit, the Livingston County Member Districts and the Livingston County Health Department. Areas screened include vision, hearing, speech, language, learning, motor and social skills. Children who have been screened in the past and have no developmental concerns do not need to attend.

Families participating in the screenings can learn how their child is developing and receive child/parent activity suggestions. If an area of need is identified, families will be linked with appropriate service providers for further evaluation, such as Child & Family Connections, Early Head Start, Heartland Head Start or their local school district.

The screenings will begin Feb. 1 with Tri-Point schools. These will continue to take place into April.

Those interested need to phone the school in their district to set up an appointment, which is required. Appointments also need to be made two weeks in advance. The following are the dates for the schools and the phone numbers to call for each school:
