A Prescott Valley patrol sergeant faces charges of domestic abuse after he was arrested on Thursday by Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies, according to a statement released by the Prescott Valley Police Department.

Prescott Valley officers got a domestic violence call at about 1:45 p.m. happening at a home in the suburbs near Stoneridge Drive and Black Canyon Highway, according to police.

When officers realized that the home belonged to Prescott Valley Sgt. Michael Morris, they called the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office to investigate.

Sheriff’s deputies claimed that a drunken Morris pulled his daughter by her arm and “attempted to hit her with a door,” leaving a scrape on her throat, according to court records.

His wife, daughter and his daughter’s boyfriend left and came back to the home four hours later to grab some belongings to leave for the night because of the earlier fight, but Morris began to yell at them, court records say.

Morris grabbed the boyfriend by the arm and tried to goad him into a fight, but failing that, he punched a hole into a wall, deputies said in court records.

At 6 p.m., deputies came back to Morris’ home to arrest him on suspicion of disorderly conduct and criminal damages related to domestic violence, police said.

The Sheriff's Office did not clarify if anyone needed medical attention after the arrest.

Morris was located in an “infirmary,” according to Yavapai County booking information.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation was still active as of Friday afternoon.
