Presentation College picks up first football win since November 2019: Sports roundup
Presentation College picked up its first football victory since Nov. 2, 2019, whipping Luther College 29-6 Saturday in Decorah, Iowa.
On their second drive of the game, the Saints got on the board with a 23-yard pass from Kaeden Fraizer to Laurenz Plummer to take the lead. Luther responded on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Beau Cornwell to Diego Lopez to make it 7-6 after the extra point was missed.
From then on, it was all Saints.
Isaiah Lawson had two interceptions and Presentation tacked on a safety to take a 9-6 lead. Then, Frazier found DJ Coston on a 20-yeard scoring strike to make it 16-6 at halftime.
Teagen Sever's 12-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter salted the game away. He also made the tackle resulting in the safety.
The Saints last victory before Saturday was 51-35 against Mayville State. That was Presentation's only win in the 2019 season. A 23-game skid followed before the commanding performance against Luther.
Frazier, a sophomore, completed 26 passes for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Coston carried the ball 22 times for 86 yards. Cameron Sheppard finished with six catches for 79 yards.
On defense, the Saints were led by Severe, who had 10 tackles and an interception. In addition to his two picks, Lawson added three tackles. Sam Motzkus added seven tackles, including a sack.
Luiz Ferreira kicked two short field goals for the Saints late in the game to account for the final score.
Presentation (1-1) hosts Concordia-Moorhead at 7 p.m. Saturday at Brownell Activities Complex.
