Presenters Announced for Host-less 92nd Academy Awards Show

The award presenters for the 92nd Academy Awards show have been announced and the list features last year's top Oscar winners who will be taking to the stage to share the glory with this year's winners at the iconic event. The awards show takes place Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Dolby Theatre in sunny Los Angeles, CA. For the second year in a row, the show will go on without a host following last year's successful run without an MC after controversy emerged about the academy's initial appointee.

Top Presenters

The list of presenters will include last year's winners: Best Supporting Actor Mahershala Ali; Best Supporting Actress Regina King; Best Actor Ali Malek; and Best Actress Olivia Coleman according to the NY Post. Each of these winners won top honors at last years Oscars ceremony. Additional presenters are to be announced by the organizers as they are confirmed; however, the event producers have not yet mentioned whether all presenters and MCs will be selected based on past winners or using other criteria.

Last Year's Host Controversy

The A-List presenters will hopefully keep the attention of viewers in the absence of a host. Last year, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tapped comedian/actor Kevin Hart as a potential host for the 2019 show. Hart was excited to take the role of host for the awards spectacular until past comments deemed homophobic surfaced and he was asked to apologize. "I choose to pass. I pass on the apology," Hart said in an Instagram video. After his initial response, Hart did issue an apology, but the damage was already done. The show went on without a host and saw a 12-percent increase in ratings according to Deadline.

Academy Stands By It's Choice

After considering other options, the academy and network heads at ABC decided not to fill the coveted role and to continue on with no main host as they'd done the year prior. The organizers hope that the star power of the presenters and the musical performances will keep the attention of viewers. The 92nd Academy Awards will follow last year's format with a series of notable mini-hosts stepping in to engage the audience in attendance and those at home for it's duration.

The Show Must Go On

Host or no host, this year's star-studded list of nominees will surely rake in the ratings. This year the blockbuster hit Joker leads the way with 11 nominations according to Vanity Fair. Other notable films up for Best Picture include Martin Scorcese's The Irishman , Quentin Tarintino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and Amy Pascal's Little Women. The stake are high, the host is non-existent, but the show must go on.

This was a big year for those on the silver screen as well as streaming services such as Netflix who cranked out binge-worthy content. The jury is still out on who will take home the little gold men, but no matter who takes home the prize the star-studded presenter list and nominees will certainly keep viewers on the edges of their seats.
