Preserved fetal remains found at doctor's house

An Indiana doctor who died earlier this month left behind an unexpected find that is now the subject of an investigation.

The family of Doctor Ulrich Klopfer found more than 2,200 medically preserved fetal remains at his house outside Chicago.

It's unknown where remains came from, but he had practiced at a women's health clinic in South Bend, Indiana up until 2015.

That's when he was suspended for failing to both exercise reasonable care and fulfill documentation requirements.

There is no evidence any medical procedures were performed at the house where the remains were found.

The family is cooperating with investigators from the Will County Sheriff's, coroner's and Illinois state attorney general's offices.

Dr. Klopfer died September 3.
