1. President Joe Biden will visit Minneapolis on Sunday to speak at the memorial honoring former Vice President Walter Mondale. The service will be held May 1 at the University of Minnesota. (BMTN)

2. More than 2,560 people in Minnesota tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. The state health department reports 255 residents are in the hospital with the virus. (BMTN)

3. A lawyer for former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin filed an appeal for a new trial in the murder of George Floyd, KARE11 reports. Attorney William Mohrman argued “pre-trial publicity, the threat of further rioting and several other reasons” made Chauvin’s initial trial unfair. (KARE11)

4. Mayor Jacob Frey gave his State of the City address Tuesday at North Commons Park. The speech addressed COVID-19 recovery, the American Rescue Plan Act, violence prevention and more. It is now available to read online. (KARE11)
