MIDDLETOWN - President Joe Biden is expected to visit Gov. Phil Murphy at his Middletown home on Thursday evening, officials said.

The visit is a stop on a Biden fundraising campaign, according to Politico, for the Democratic National Committee’s grassroots victory fund.

The president's route and transportation method have not been disclosed, but traffic flow in the area could be affected.

"With any presidential visit, the public can anticipate that there will be traffic delays, unanticipated road closures and things of that nature," said Paul Bailey, spokesperson for the Middletown Police.

In an email alert to the public on Wednesday night, township police warned of traffic delays, intermittent road closures and "temporary frozen zones" (no motor vehicles, pedestrians or bicycles on some roadways) in the afternoon and early evening hours in the area of the Lincroft, River Plaza, Oak Hill and Navesink neighborhoods — as well as on Route 35 near Red Bank. The public was asked to avoid the area and to plan their travel on alternate routes.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued temporary flight restrictions for "VIP movement" for Thursday in the Red Bank area, stating that "no pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this [notice]." Murphy's home on the Navesink River faces Red Bank.

Prior to becoming governor, Murphy served as the National Finance Chair of the Democratic National Committee in 2006, and was appointed United States Ambassador to Germany in 2009 by former President Barack Obama, wen Biden was vice president.

This will be Biden's second fundraising destination of the day, Politico said, following his scheduled appearance at the New York City home of James and Kathryn Murdoch to raise funds for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Just last month, former President Donald Trump appeared in West Long Branch at a fundraiser for Lee Zeldin, the Republican nominee for New York governor running against incumbent Kathy Hochul.
