The Philadelphia 76ers are three games into the 2021-22 season and they have two wins on the road They are getting big production out of Joel Embiid and Seth Curry to start the season as well as solid production from others, but the focus continues to be on Ben Simmons.

Simmons has yet to suit up for the Sixers after a tumultuous summer where there have been a war of words as well as trade rumors and trade requests when it comes to the 25-year old All-Star. He did report to the team on Oct. 11 to end his holdout, but now, there are other things going on in his life.

Simmons is stepping away from the team again as he handles some personal issues off the floor and now, he has to be able to battle through that before getting back on the floor.

Team president Daryl Morey joined NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Amy Fadool to discuss Simmons’ situation and he had a bit of positive news on that front:

Ben came in at the end of last week and said he had back stiffness and he’s dealing with some personal reasons off the court. Both we take very seriously, we’re working with Ben to provide every resource to help him with what is needed. He spoke to his teammates, things seem to be moving very much in a positive direction. We’re going to provide all the resources, give Ben what he needs, and get him out there as soon as we can.

The Sixers have always maintained that they would like Simmons out there with the team. He does have four years left on his contract and it makes sense as to why Philadelphia feels this way. Also, if he is able to play and make an impact, he then is easier to trade. The Sixers would be able to get the value they expect and he will be able to get the trade he wants out of Philadelphia.

For now, the Sixers have to focus on themselves. Which means they must be able to continue to control what they can control on the floor. While they wait for Simmons, they must find a way to consistently win basketball games.
