President of flight attendants union: ‘It is absurd’ masks aren’t mandated on planes

Sara Nelson, international president of the Association of Flight Attendants, tells TODAY that as people return to air travel, “we have to be more clear about how people are supposed to wear masks.” Citing a recent incident in which a flight attendant was assaulted by a passenger who didn’t want to wear a mask, she says “We need more backing from the federal government … we need to have consequences.”
