President Trump features 'Game of Thrones'-style poster during Cabinet meeting: 'Sanctions are coming'

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump spoke at length Wednesday about the partial government shutdown, tensions on the Korea peninsula and stock market swings.

But it was a "Game of Thrones"-style poster featuring Trump that was placed on a table in the Cabinet Room that lit up social media. "Sanctions are coming," the poster read, a riff on the "winter is coming" mantra embraced in the popular HBO show.

The use of Trump in a "Game of Thrones" meme first emerged in early November, when the president tweeted an image of the same poster.

HBO pushed back on the use of the image at the time.

"How do you say trademark misuse in Dothraki?" the cable network tweeted, referring to to the fictional language used in the series.

Trump's use of the poster is intended to highlight his administration's plans to reimpose sanctions on Iranian individuals and entities. It wasn't immediately clear why the poster was placed on the table in front of the president during the Cabinet meeting.
