President, VP reelected in first 2024 meeting

Jan. 18—GOSHEN — The Elkhart County Council reelected its president and vice president Thursday at its first meeting of 2024.

Tom Stump and David Hess were both reelected by unanimous 5-0 votes, and Jerry Weaver and Mike Settles were both appointed to Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals.

Juli Ward, director of the Middlebury Public Library, spoke to the council regarding an additional appropriation for the MPL of $100,000, for three unanticipated expenses, which was also approved.

A total of $18,152,438 in additional appropriations were also approved by the council, who heard from department heads from the sheriff's office, public health, parks and recreation and others.
