Preston grand list jumps with property revaluations

Feb. 8—PRESTON — The town's grand list of taxable property soared by 22.38% in 2022, thanks mainly to real estate values, Assessor Adrianna Hedwall said.

The new net grand list, after subtracting exempt property, totaled $612 million, an increase of $138.9 million, 22.38% as calculated as of Oct. 1, 2022. Net real estate values totaled $511.38 million, an increase of $130 million, up 25.42%.

Personal property values increased by a much lower but still strong 6.9%, amount, totaling $39.5 million. Motor vehicle values also increased by 6.9% to a new net total of $61 million.

Preston top 10 taxpayers, combined real estate, personal property, motor vehicle values, are:

1. Covanta SE Connecticut (trash incinerator), $35.52 million.

2. Connecticut Light & Power, $24.23 million.

3. Julia Tate Holdings LLC (Hilton Garden Inn), $9.59 million.

4. Strawberry Park Resort Campground, $2.64 million.

5. Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, $1.58 million.

6. Yankee Gas, $1.24 million.

7. PAF Commercial Realty LLC (Fleming's shopping center and other properties), $1.17 million.

8. Shane J. Pollack, $1.11 million.

9. Henry E. Watson, $1.1 million.

10. William Migliaccio, Jr., $1.09 million.
