"Pretty Little Liars" to Leave Netflix July 2019

This is sadder than a Haleb breakup.

It’s truly the end of an era: Pretty Little Liars is officially leaving Netflix.

The streaming service announced the sad news on Sunday, June 16, writing on Twitter that the Freeform series will be making its departure on July 27. Currently, all seven seasons are available on Netflix.

“7 seasons, 160 episodes, 125 threatening texts, 10 A’s, and too many lies to count,” the official Netflix Twitter account wrote. “On July 27, we have to say goodbye to Pretty Little Liars on Netflix in the US.” While there’s still six weeks to complete a re-watch (or binge the entire thing for the first time), the post alerts us to the fact that it’ll take six days and 16 hours to do so. You might call that a lot, but I call that a challenge I’m happy to accept.

Naturally, fans weren’t happy about this news. Several members of the PLL Army responded with appropriately placed reaction gifs, while others expressed their grief with crying emojis. And some seem resigned to the show’s fate, pledging to do a re-watch one last time before PLL’s final hour.

While there’s no word yet if PLL will be picked up by any other streaming services, some fans are speculating that it might find a new home on Disney+, the forthcoming streaming service slated for rollout in November 2019. Disney owns Freeform, so it’s certainly a possibility, though no official confirmation has been given at this time. (You can, however, bet that we’ll be paying close attention, because a life without PLL feels…well…something like spending months in the Dollhouse.)

Pretty Little Liars first premiered in 2010, and it has been a Netflix mainstay for the past several years. Season 7b (the show’s last installment) joined the streaming service in July 2017, just one month after the series finale unveiled the mysterious identity of “A.D.”

So there you have it, my fellow PLL Army members. We’ve got six weeks to relive the magic before it’s gone forever…unless, of course, Caleb and Mona find a way to hack Netflix. Just a thought!
