Preview: Southwest Ohio East-West All-Star Football Game returns Friday at Princeton

The Southwest Ohio Football Coaches Association is hosting its annual East vs. West All-Star Game, presented by Mercy Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, this Friday, June 10, on Pat Mancuso Field at Princeton High School.

The all-star game features the top seniors from Southwest Ohio high schools that comprise the conference. SWOFCA will also take this time to award scholarships to deserving athletes from the high schools.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 at the gate, cash only. There will be no tickets sold in advance and no acceptance of credit or debit cards.

There will be 83 total athletes competing from 58 of the Greater Cincinnati area schools.

There is only one quarterback on the East team: Luca Aquilino of Loveland. The Tigers went 2-10 during their 2021 season, only capturing wins against West Clermont and Walnut Hills in early September and October.

Aquilino recorded 166 passing completions off 279 attempts for a total of 2,609 yards. Rushing, his longest run was 72 yards and he recorded nine touchdowns as a senior, only three fumbles.

Aquilino and the rest of the East team will be coached by Nick Osborne of Western Brown, associate head coach D.J. Dowdy of Purcell Marian and four assistant coaches: Devin Bradley of Anderson, Barak Faulk of Mason, Arryn Chenault of Norwood and Adam Kieft of Turpin.

There are two quarterbacks on the West team: Cam Cope of La Salle and Kevin Oliver of St. Bernard. The Lancers went 7-5 during their 2021 season, while the Titans went 3-6.

Cope recorded 47 passing completions off 108 attempts for a total of 677 yards. Rushing, his longest run was 85 yards and he recorded eight touchdowns as a senior, only two fumbles.

Oliver recorded 49 passing completions off 118 attempts for a total of 724 yards. Rushing, his longest run was 40 yards and he recorded three touchdowns as a senior, only one fumble. Oliver was also named to the Miami Valley Conference All-League First Team.

Cope, Oliver and the rest of the West team will be coached by Chad Murphy of Winton Woods, associate head coach Scott Clemmons of Edgewood and four assistant coaches: Gary Clemmons of Edgewood, Koury Johnson of Hughes, Kyle Hogan of St. Bernard and Spencer Kummer of Winton Woods.
