Previewing Monday night’s NCAA final. Will UConn’s tourney rampage continue? A podcast

As NCAA men’s championship game matchups go, this one has the potential to be lopsided. Connecticut has been rolling through the NCAA Tournament, defeating its basketball opponents by more than 20 points per game.

San Diego State needed a one-point victory in the regional finals to advance to the Final Four and reached Monday evening’s championship game with a buzzer-beater.

That’s why the Huskies are a 7 1/2-point favorite to win the program’s fifth national championship. But upsets obviously can happen.

On today’s episode of The Star’s SportsBeat KC podcast, you’ll hear from coaches Dan Hurley of UConn and Brian Dutcher of San Diego State as they break down the game and their respective 2022-23 seasons.

You’ll also hear reactions from two of the newest members of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, coaches Gene Bess of Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri., and Gene Keady, the longtime Purdue coach who was a three-sport letter-winner at Kansas State (interestingly, none of those sports was basketball).
