WORCESTER — Four employees at Price Rite Marketplace on Southbridge Street were recognized by the company for performing lifesaving acts while on the job.

Store associate Roberto Diaz recently sprung into action when he noticed a child choking while a family was leaving the store.

Diaz successfully cleared the child's airway.

Also recently stepping up to answer the call in a separate incident at the supermarket were store associates Dennis Cobos and D’Nay Hunter, and Produce Manager Drew Delmastro, who all came to the aid of a customer who was experiencing a medical emergency.

Cobos used his EMS training to assist the customer, while the others waited with the person until emergency services arrived at the store at 520 Southbridge St.

Members of Price Rite Marketplace leadership, including President Kevin McDonnell and Vice President of Operations Bill Devin, visited the store Jan. 19 to honor the employees and laud their heroic actions.

Also on hand to celebrate the team was store Manager Mark Jerome and company Director of Retail Asset Protection Derrick Price.
