Update: Because of weather concerns, the Pride flash mob planned for 10 a.m. June 4 has been postponed until 10 a.m. June 18.

Organizers of a flash mob scheduled to be presented June 4 at the Sarasota Farmers Market are inviting would-be participants to practice at home with a video.

Last year, dozens of people gathered in downtown Sarasota for a performance of “This is Me,” an anthem from the film “The Greatest Showman,” led by drag queen Beneva Fruitville.

There is a rehearsal video available on the Facebook page This is Me Flash Mob 2021 which anyone can view to rehearse the steps at home. Those interested are also asked to sign up online at ppsrq.org/event-details/this-is-me-flash-mob so organizers know how many people to expect. You can also see a video of last year’s presentation on that page.

The performance is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 4 at the Sarasota Farmers Market.

Deb Lombard, who taught dance and movement for many years in Sarasota County schools, said participants do not need to be trained dancers to take part. She said the movements are designed to be simple enough for all ages to participate.
