LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Pride month is just one day away.

According to the History Channel, Pride Month is an annual celebration of the many contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community to history, society and cultures worldwide. In most places, Pride is celebrated throughout the month of June each year in commemoration of its roots in the Stonewall Riots of June 1969.

The Pride Alliance of Livingston, sponsored by the Livingston Diversity Council, is planning a series of outdoor activities to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

Here's some of the events you can expect to see in Livingston County:

Rainbow Reception

There will be a Rainbow Reception held at Mill Pond Amphitheatre in Brighton, located at 202 W. Main St., by the Livingston Diversity Council and Pride Alliance of Livingston to kick off pride month from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, June 4.

This will be the third annual Rainbow Reception. Locals are encouraged to meet up and enjoy live music from James Taylor Jr., free crafts, an information booth and merchandise for purchase. All proceeds will benefit The Pride Alliance of Livingston.

For more information about the event, check out Pride Alliance Livingston on Facebook.
