When is Pride Month 2023?

Pride Month spans the month of June each year, this year beginning on Thursday, June 1 and ending on Friday, June 30.

What is Pride Month?

Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York and celebrates the LGBTQ community and the fight for equal rights.

The Stonewall Uprising began on June 28, 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a prominent gay bar in Manhattan's Greenwich Village. The subsequent protests over the next six days are credited with a shift in LGBTQ activism in the U.S.

The 18th Annual El Paso Sun City Pride Parade will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, starting on Mills behind the El Paso City Hall, to Campbell, and then Montana to Houston Park, 900 Montana Ave., where it will end. After the parade, there will be a parade picnic with music, food, nonalcoholic beverages and drag performances.

Love Letters on display at San Jacinto Plaza for Pride Month

As Pride Month begins, the city of El Paso will display "Love Letters" at San Jacinto Plaza. Throughout June, residents and visitors can pay tribute to LGBTQ Pride in Downtown El Paso.

"Pride Month is a special opportunity to recognize the proud El Pasoans that make up its LGBTQ community. Our community is made up of diverse individuals who make El Paso a unique and accepting destination, one that welcomes all visitors with open arms and an open heart," said Jose Garcia, President and CEO of Destination El Paso.

New exhibit showcases El Paso's drag scene

El Paso’s contemporary drag scene is highlighted through photography and costumes of local performers in a pop-up exhibit at the El Paso Museum of History in recognition of Pride Month.

The exhibit, titled "Drag in Focus: A Close-Up of El Paso’s Drag Scene," showcases drag as a meaningful art form while honoring diversity and expression in the Borderland, the museum stated.

The pop-up exhibit will be on display through July 8 at the El Paso Museum of History, 510 N. Santa Fe St. Information: www.epmuseumofhistory.org

Pride Night at El Paso Locomotive FC

El Paso Locomotive FC will celebrate Pride Night on Wednesday, June 14, at the soccer match against Las Vegas Lights FC.

The first 1,500 fans will receive a free fanny pack. Gates open at 6 p.m. and kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Southwest University Park in Downtown.

El Paso Chihuahuas baseball celebrates Pride Month

Join the El Paso Chihuahuas June 22 at Southwest Univerity Park in Downtown as the baseball team celebrates Pride Month. The team will be playing Tacoma Rainers and will have specials for "Thrifty Thursday."

Special prices on the following drinks. Specials end 2.5 hours after the gates open.

El Paso brewery creates Pride Month beer

Aurellia's Bottle Shop & Brewhouse in West El Paso will celebrate Pride Month with a limited beer, "Love is Love." The beer will make its debut on June 3, at the Sun City Beer Fest in Downtown El Paso.

The beer was brewed in collaboration with Sun City Pride and 100% of the profits will be donated to the organization.

The beer will be an ultra crushable lager, landing at 4.20 ABV. The beer will be available June 3 on tap and canned at the brewery located at 1620 Resler Drive.

Alamo Drafthouse celebrates LGBTQ cinema

The Alamo Drafthouse theaters in El Paso will bring back some films that celebrate  LGBTQ+ cinema including "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." The film will be shown at 10 p.m. June 23 at the East El Paso theater, 12351 Pellicano Drive. It also will be shown at 10 p.m. June 24 at the Montecillo theater, located at 250 Montecillo Blvd. Tickets are $18.13, and $15.15, plus fees. Information: https://drafthouse.com/

Touch Bar Drag Race celebrities

Touch Bar will have several appearances by RuPaul's Drag Race celebrities during June. The first one will be Loosey Laduca from Season 15 performing June 3 at 11395 James Watt Drive.
