According to the investigation, the priest–turned-collaborator provided invading forces with information and supplies, while Ukrainian prisoners were kept in the cellar of his parish church.

“According to the testimony of one of the Ukrainians held by the occupiers, the basement of the church of the pro-Russian priest was used to keep volunteers in there,” the report says.

The ministry released a video with the priest, where he can be heard saying that Russian troops would be greeted with flowers if they launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2014.

On Dec. 22, 2022, Ukraine’s SBU security service reported that a representative of the Kyiv-Zhytomyr diocese of the Roman Catholic Church will face trial for denying the war crimes committed by Moscow’s troops in Ukraine.
