The 2022 primary election is now just days away, with early one-stop voting beginning on Thursday, April 28, and the primary on May 17.

Listed below are the individual races in our coverage area and who is running in each of them.

FEDERAL OFFICES

US Congress, NC-11

One of the most-talked about races is for the North Carolina District 11 seat in the US Congress, currently held by Republican Madison Cawthorn. He was elected in 2020 to succeed Mark Meadows, who was promoted to Chief of Staff under former president Donald Trump.

Cawthorn is running for re-election and is seeking to be the Republican party's candidate. According to the Henderson County Board of Elections, other Republicans running are Chuck Edwards, Rod Honeycutt, Wendy Marie-Limbaugh Nevarez, Bruce O'Connell, Kristie Sluder, Michele V. Woodhouse and Matthew Burril.

Those running to be the candidate for the Democratic party for NC-11 are Jay Carey, Katie Dean, Marco Gutierrez, Bo Hess, Bynum M. Lunsford and Jasmine Beach-Ferrara.

US Senate

The current North Carolina Senators are both Republicans, Thom Tillis and Richmond Burr. Burr won re-election in 2016, and he said it was his last time running, meaning 2022 is his last year as an NC Senator.

Other Republicans running are Marjorie K. Eastman, David Flaherty, Benjamin E. Griffiths, Kenneth Harper Jr., Charles Kenneth Moss, Lichia Sibhatu, Debora Tshiovo, Mark Walker, Jen Banwart, Ms. Lee A. Brian, Leonard L. Bryant,Ted Budd and Drew Bulecza.
