Primary election ballots set to go out today. Here's what to know

Tulare County elections office will begin mailing ballots on Monday.

The primary election ballot will include candidates for U.S. Senate, governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, controller, treasurer, attorney general, insurance commissioner, member of state board of equalization, state superintendent of public instruction, and newly redrawn districts for U.S. representatives in Congress, state senators, and state assembly members.

Tulare and Fresno county voters will also decide who will hold the U.S. Representative District 22 seat: Connie Conway or Lourin Hubbard. During the March primary election, neither candidate received 50% of the vote needed to take the seat.

There are two contests for U.S. Senate on this ballot. Voters can cast their ballot for both contests.

  • One for a 6-year term ending Jan. 3, 2029; and

  • One for the remainder of the current term ending Jan. 3, 2023

Key dates

All California registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot, but will still have a variety of ways to submit their ballot.

Voters should return their vote-by-mail ballot by mail with prepaid postage as long as it's postmarked on or before Election Day and received by June 14. Voters can also drop off their ballot in-person to a secure ballot dropbox, a voting location or their county elections office by 8 p.m. on June 7.

The last day to register to vote for the primary election is May 23.

However, in-person voting locations will offer voter registration, replacement ballots, accessible voting machines, and language assistance to those who need it.

Official election results, certified by the Secretary of State's office, will be posted on the website by July 15. The last day for the Secretary of State to release the official supplement to the statement of the vote is Nov. 12.

Poll workers needed in Tulare County

Locally, Tulare County Registrar of Voters is looking for poll workers for the primary election in the following locations:

  • Dinuba

  • Porterville

  • Tulare
