Primary election day has arrived
Today Cleveland County voters will decide which candidates will face off on Election Day, and whether businesses can sell beer and wine countywide.
While voters will have 13 hours to make their way to the polls, just 2,669 out of more than 66,000 registered voters cast their ballots during early voting.
Booze on the ballot
Last fall, Cleveland County commissioners voted unanimously to put countywide beer and wine sales on the ballot during the primary election.
Beer and unfortified wine sales have been approved by voters in Boiling Springs, Casar, Fallston, Grover, Kings Mountain, Kingstown, Lawndale, Patterson Springs, Polkville, Shelby and Waco. But businesses operating outside of those areas have not had those opportunities, but that could change with the vote.
