Primary for Windsor Locks probate judge

Jun. 18—WINDSOR LOCKS — Former town first selectman and probate judge J. Christopher Kervick has secured enough signatures to be included in a Democratic primary for Judge of Probate on Aug. 9.

Kervick first earned the position in 2008 when former judge William C. Leary reached the mandatory retirement age for the job.

He was then forced to leave the position a few years later due to the court consolidation process. In the meantime, Kervick served as the first selectman in Windsor Locks from 2015 to 2021.

Kervick will primary against current Democratic Probate Judge David A. Baram of Bloomfield and Dan Mara, a business litigation attorney in Bloomfield.

The Tobacco Valley Probate Court serves the towns of Bloomfield, East Granby, Suffield, and Windsor Locks.

Collin covers East Windsor and Windsor Locks for the Journal Inquirer.
