Prime spot in KC Westport has been vacant almost a year. Here’s who’s moving in

This spring, the Westport live music venue Tin Roof expanded to the east, taking over the space formerly occupied by the Riot Room.

Now the Nashville-based firm behind Tin Roof is looking west. It has leased the building next door, at 4057 Pennsylvania Ave., which was most recently the home of Mickey’s Hideaway, which closed in November. (Before that, it was McCoy’s Public House.)

Lottie’s Get Down plans an early 2024 opening in the space.

“It’ll be a Southern fried chicken concept with a little bit of live music, too,” CEO Bob Franklin told The Star. “We really want to activate that corner — it’s such great real estate.”

Unlike the Riot Room expansion, which connected Tin Roof to that space, Lottie’s will be an entirely separate concept, with its own licensing and entrances. (“Lottie” is the name of the woman on the Tin Roof logo, Franklin said, hence the bar’s name.)

Franklin said the concept is a new one for his company and they’re still developing the menu. But he said it will be open for lunch on weekdays and until 3 a.m. on the weekends. They’ve been redesigning the interior but no big renovations are planned.

“We’ll have TVs, it’ll be good for watching games,” he said. “Good food, good drinks, good music.”

Tin Roof opened at 424 Westport Road in May 2022. “They’ve been crazy successful over there so far,” landlord Larry Goldman told The Star.

“We’re heavily invested in Westport’s future,” Franklin said. “We opened a year and a half ago and we’ve already expanded once and now we’re doing a new concept. So, I think that gives you a good indication of how we feel about Kansas City.”
