Primrose residents deliver a random act of kindness

Residents from Primrose Retirement Community in Mansfield recently visited the Lexington Senior Center to deliver some random acts of kindness to the visitors at the center. Residents handed out cookies, bagged as part of a Busy Bees activity, along with $10 gift cards from McDonald's and IHOP restaurants.

After visiting the Lexington Senior Center, Primrose residents were treated to lunch where they distributed leftover cookies and cards to restaurant workers and patrons.

As part of National Dog Biscuit Month in February, Primrose residents plan to deliver homemade dog biscuits to the Humane Society of Richland County and the Richland County Dog Warden & Adoption Center.

Primrose Life Enrichment Coordinator Angela Gardner said their visit to the Lexington Senior Center is only one of their yearly community outings to show kindness to others. In the past, they have also visited the Harmony house where, thanks to money raised from raffles, they were able to deliver toys, gift cards and handmade knitted hats. They also consistently do things for the Richland County New Store and volunteer for other community projects, such as creating cards for those with cancer and service members overseas, knitting hats for newborn babies and cancer patients, and making cat and dog toys for local shelters and rescues.

Gardner says many Primrose residents were once active in volunteering in the community, so they're always looking for ways to still make a difference. If you have a suggestion, contact Gardner at 419-526-2900.
