Prince Charles celebrates 70th with new royal family photos starring George, Charlotte and Louis
From the Duke of Rothesay to the Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew and Great Steward of Scotland, the Prince of Wales has almost too many titles to mention in one breath.
When it comes to celebrating his 70th birthday, there are clearly only two that matter: Pa and Grandpa.
Family photographs, released on Tuesday night in honour of the milestone birthday, show the Prince and Duchess of Cornwall at the heart of a modern Royal Family across three generations.
With his sons, the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex, standing tall behind him, he carries a beaming five-year-old Prince George on his knee while Princess Charlotte cuddles up to her step-grandmother.
Prince Louis, safe in his mother’s arms, poses for the camera with a gummy smile, wearing a white and blue outfit to fit in with the rest of the family.
The Duchess of Sussex, pregnant with her first baby, stands beside the Duke, upright in one picture with his hand on her hip, and doubled over with laughter in a second.
The photographs were in the garden at Clarence House in September, by royal photographer Chris Jackson, who has previously taken Prince George’s fourth birthday picture and is married to the Duchess of Cambridge’s stylist Natasha Archer.
Jackson, who did not give away what the family had seen behind the camera to make them laugh so much, said: “I was delighted to have been asked to take these portraits of The Prince of Wales surrounded by his family to celebrate the important milestone of his 70th Birthday.
"It was particularly special to capture such an informal and relaxed family portrait over a fun afternoon in the gardens of Clarence House.”
