From Town & Country

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have announced their next trip abroad: in mid-March, Charles will spend two days in Bosnia and Herzegovina; after that, Camilla will join him for official visits to The Republic of Cyprus and The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Official royal visits are undertaken at the request of the UK government, and used as a tool for soft diplomacy. In a statement, Clarence House set out the intentions of this trip: the Prince of Wales is visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina to mark the 25th anniversary of the genocide, and that his stay there will "highlight reforms to improve citizens’ lives"; in Charles and Camilla's first official visit to Cyprus, they will "recognize the work of the UN Peacekeeping Force and celebrate traditional Cypriot culture"; finally, in Jordan, the royal couple will "learn what the country is doing to support refugees and showcase its rich cultural history."

Here, all the details of the couple's itinerary that have been revealed thus far.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: March 17-18

In Srebrenica, Charles will visit the memorial at Srebrenica to mark the 25th anniversary of the genocide, where he'll pay his respects to victims and meet with survivors.

Then in Sarajevo, Charles will call on the country's tripartite presidency, and meet with leaders in business, politics, culture, civil society, the armed forces, and religion. He'll also stop by historic sites in the old town, and speak with students who created projects under a program implemented by the British Council. Finally, he'll meet with members of the UK military who are working to strengthen the BiH-UK defense relationship.

The Republic of Cyprus: March 18-21

Charles and Camilla are set to visit Nicosia, as well as the Troodos mountians and the Larnaca district. They'll also meet with UK military personnel—chiefly, British UN peacekeepers and the Mercian Regiment—and travel to the UN Buffer Zone, speaking with both Greek- and Turkish-Cypriot locals.

The Prince of Wales will also attend a meeting of the Commonwealth Blue Charter Champions and meet with religious leaders. For her part, Camilla will meet with a partner organization of her patronages, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, and "continue her work to highlight the issue of domestic violence and rape around the world and engage with organizations working to support survivors."

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan: March 21-25

The royal couple will see some exciting sites in Jordan, including a town that was once part of the Greek and Roman Decapolis and a national park.

In addition, they'll visit the country's first historical capital, the City of Salt, where they'll meet with the Jordanian winner of the 2019 Global Prince’s Trust International Award, and learn more about the Prince’s Trust International's work in the country.

Charles and Camilla's trip will in part focus on how Jordan continues to host large populations of refugees, visiting with Charles's patronage International Rescue Committee and other organizations to learn about their work.

The Duke and Duchess will also spend time with members of the Jordanian royal family. King Abdallah II, as the Custodian of the Islamic and Christian Holy Sites in Jerusalem, will lead an interfaith discussion that Charles will participate in, and Camilla will learn about Queen Rania's work to protect children and mothers.

Camilla will undertake some solo engagements, including a stop by a UNICEF-supported school and a Women of the World event.
