Members of the royal family have been showing their support for Ukraine this week, and Prince Charles in particular has been conspicuous in his dedication lately. Today, the prince, along with his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, paid a visit to the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in London where they met with Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski, as well as the Ukrainian Ambassador, Vadym Prystaiko, and his wife, Inna Prystaiko.

During the visit, the couple also met with a group of school children, who sang them a song before the royals were introduced to members of the Ukrainian community including representatives from different faith communities, volunteers who are helping the humanitarian efforts in the country, and leaders of charities who are working to support relief efforts in Ukraine.

While there, Charles and Camilla also received a traditional offering of bread and salt, and then lit a candle and placed sunflowers—the Ukrainian national flower—at the altar to show their respect.

This isn't the first time this week Charles has signaled his support for Ukraine. Yesterday, while visiting Southend-on-Sea to honor the area’s MP Sir David Amess who was tragically murdered in October 2021, he spoke out on the issue, saying, "What we saw in the terrible tragedy in Southend was an attack on democracy, on an open society, on freedom itself."

He continued: "We are seeing those same values under attack today in Ukraine in the most unconscionable way. In the stand we take here, we are in solidarity with all those who are resisting brutal aggression."

The message echoed the support the Prince William and Kate shared in a post on social media on Saturday, saying, "In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine’s future. Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine’s people as they bravely fight for that future."
